Course Number and Title: HST405H1F- Global Migration and Health

Course Description: Over the past decades, economic globalization, widening socio-economic inequities, conflict, natural disasters, environmental degradation, and, more recently, climate change have combined to become increasingly significant forces shaping global migration fluxes. This course analyzes the impact of migration on the health of those who move and of individuals, communities and entire societies in countries of origin, transit, arrival, and resettlement. It adopts an interdisciplinary approach, incorporating scholarly work from the fields of public health, the social sciences, law, and human rights.

Minimum Qualifications: A Master\'s degree, or near completion, preferably with a research component in social, public, or global health science is required.

Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. preferred. Demonstrated teaching, research and practical or professional expertise on issues relating to global migration and health is preferred. Demonstrated evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching is preferred.

Description of Duties: Normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours. The delivery method for this course is currently in person. Please note that, in keeping with public health advisories, the course delivery method may change as determined by the Faculty or the College.
