HMB434H1F - Complementary and Integrative Medicine - co-teaching

Course description:

Introduction to complementary and alternative medical therapies. Topics include, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Naturopathy, Ayurvedic, and Mind-Body Practices. Biological mechanisms will be emphasized and therapies will be critically analyzed from an evidence-based research perspective. Integrating alternative therapies into Western practices with a focus on personalized medicine will be discussed.

Lectures on Thursdays 9:00am - 11:00am (in-person)

Sessional dates of appointment:

September 1, 2025 - December 31, 2025

Salary (0.25FCE):




Sessional Lecturer 1: $4,910.35.


Sessional Lecturer 1(Long-Term): $5,255.02.


Sessional Lecturer 2: $5,255.02.


Sessional Lecturer 2 (Long-Term): $5,380.14.


Sessional Lecturer 3: $5,380.14.


Sessional Lecturer 3 (Long-Term): $5,515.18.


All inclusive of vacation pay;

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates should have a completed Ph.D. (or equivalent) with a scholarly background and recent experience in areas related to the course.

Description of duties:



Co-preparing of course syllabus and course marking scheme Co-planning and teaching weekly lectures and seminars Co-providing office hours for academic counselling of students Co-setting and co-marking assignments/exams Co-administrating course in accordance with University regulations as described in the Faculty of Arts & Science Academic Handbook for Instructors Co-supervising Teaching Assistants
