Course description:
The course focuses on technological advances and approaches in deriving fuels, chemical feedstocks, and other value-added products from forest resources and other organic-based feedstocks. Fundamental chemical attributes of biomass, as they affect the fuel value and potential for deriving liquid, solid and gaseous fuels from the biomass will be discussed. Processing options for fibre, biopolymers and other valuable chemical products will be an integral part of the course material.

Salary (per half-course, inclusive of vacation):
Sessional Lecturer I: $ 9,820.70

Sessional Lecturer II $ 10,510.04
Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $ 10,760.28
Sessional Lecturer III: $ 10,760.28
Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $ 11,029.28

Minimum qualifications
: A Ph.D. degree related to and extensive experience in biomaterials science; teaching experience an asset.
Description of duties
: Prepare and deliver lectures, organize guest speakers, maintain course notes and readings, set and mark course assignments, which may include mid-term, essay and final examination or other assignments, with the support of a TA; compile, record and submit final marks. Be available to students through regular office hours.
