Course Description:

Students will examine the complexities of social and cultural interaction in the context of changing Canadian demographics. This course compares and contrasts policies regarding Indigenous rights, migration, multiculturalism, and citizenship with contemporary cultural narratives in literature, painting and film.

Thursdays, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Minimum Qualifications:

A Master's degree required in Social Sciences or Humanities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in progress or completed either in Canadian Studies or any cognate field or discipline (including, but not limited to English, History, Sociology, Geography, etc.). Demonstrated teaching and research expertise on issues relating to pluralism in Canada is preferred. Demonstrated evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching is preferred. Previous experience in teaching a similar course is preferred.

Description of Duties:

Normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours. Supervising the TA (if applicable), preparing and supervising tests and exams.
