Course description:
Bioinformatics uses and develops computational tools to understand biological processes from the level of single molecules to whole genomes and organisms. The biotechnology revolution has meant that bioinformatics is now used in many cutting edge biological research areas from medicine to phylogenetics. This course will introduce core concepts, practices and research topics including DNA/Protein alignment, DNA sequence analysis, interacting with scientific databases, and genome sequencing technology. This course includes computer-based practicals wherein students will apply bioinformatic tools and be introduced to basic computer programming - no previous experience is required. (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $21,140.03 (Y, full course) & $10,570.02 (H, half Course, 0.5 FCE); All pay rates are inclusive of vacation pay.
Qualifications: The candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in Biology or related field. The decision on hiring will be based on previous teaching experience in this course or other similar courses, academic qualifications, ability, and suitability for the position.
Description of duties: Normal duties associated with teaching a university course, including preparation and delivery of course content, development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams, calculation and submission of grades, contact with students by regular office hours. Completion of all grades (may include make-up exams).
