Sessional Instructor: SCIE 331, Natural Sciences Program





The Natural Sciences Program within the Faculty of Science invites applications for a

Winter 2026 Term

Sessional Instructor for SCIE 331 (Scientific Explorations). The appointee will teach one lecture section of Science 331 in the Winter 2026 session.

Science 331 - Scientific Explorations studies a well-rounded perspective and appreciation of science by investigating the nature of scientific inquiry and critically assessing key historical and contemporary achievements in science with a series of active-learning lectures.


Students develop these outcomes:


Show respect for the diverse opinions, values, belief systems, and contributions of others Interact with others in groups in ways that contribute to effective working relationships Describe how scientific investigations incorporate ideas of experimentation and observation Delineate questions that can be answered using scientific methodologies versus those that cannot Reflect on common misconceptions in science, as well as key historical contributions to science, to make sense of how science progresses and its strengths and limitations Discuss ideas about the natural world using appropriate scientific vocabulary, supported with properly referenced sources Evaluate news articles, interpret, and describe graphs and figures for their effectiveness and accuracy Develop skills to evaluate and interpret data in media publications. Create probing questions for scientists presenting their research or understandings Evaluate the validity of scientific information by critically analyzing the information source Create a personal connection with science and apply it to your academic and personal goals Utilize critical reflection to evaluate understanding and tie course outcomes to academic and personal goals

Qualifications:




The successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in a scientific discipline or with experience teaching at the post-secondary level. Please apply online via the 'Apply Now' link.
