DescriptionThe Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary invites applications for a Sessional Instructor to teach ENDG 319 (Probability, Statistics and Machine Learning) in the Summer 2024 term. The course is scheduled to be delivered in-person.Course Description:
Presentation and description of data, introduction to probability theory, Bayes\' theorem, discrete and continuous probability distributions, estimation, sampling distributions, tests of hypotheses on means, variances and proportions; Introduction to fundamental machine learning including linear regression, classification and correlation. Applications are chosen from engineering practice from all disciplines.Course Schedule:
Lecture: Monday, Wednesday, Fridays 04:00 - 05:55 pm
Tutorial: Tuesday, Thursdays, 04:00 - 05:15 pmQualifications:
Candidates must have a graduate degree in Engineering and must have a demonstrated background in the subject matter related to this course. Experience teaching undergraduate students in an engineering program will be viewed as an asset.
