This is an ongoing posting. Sessional Instructor (EMR) assignments are filled on an as-needed basis. The Health Sciences Division at JIBC is dedicated to training first responders, emergency medical responders, paramedics, and regulatory practitioners. We welcome you to embark on a journey with us as we pioneer the future of paramedicine and professional health education across BC and beyond.
Position Summary
Are you a dedicated PCP (or higher) professional ready to take the next step in your career by inspiring the next generation of emergency responders? As a Sessional Instructor in the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) program, you will have the opportunity to share your knowledge, skills, and real-world experience with students preparing to enter the field. In this teaching role, you will guide learners through all or portions of the EMR curriculum, assess their performance, and provide meaningful written and verbal feedback to support their growth. You will also document student progress, assist with tutorials or remediation when needed, and communicate any training concerns to program leadership.

Qualifications
Required:

  • Proof of licensing (PCP level or higher) through the Emergency Medical Assistants Licensing Branch (EMALB) of British Columbia (or an equivalent level in another Canadian jurisdiction).
  • Two years' full-time quivalent experience as a field practitioner (e.g., OFA, EMR, PCP or ACP).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive and respectful relationships.
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within diverse instructional and program teams.
Preferred:
  • Canadian Red Cross or Heart & Stroke Instructor Certificates
  • Completed the JIBC Essential Skills for Training and Facilitation (INDC-1110) course or quivalent
  • Demonstrated computer skills - Microsoft 365, Blackboard, Work processing, Email, Internet navigation and Adobe Acrobat.

$41.15 per hour (EMR Sessional Hourly Rate), with an option to participate in the College Pension Plan
