Sessional Instructor

position to teach the following course in

Winter 2026

(January 5 - April 30, 2026).



ENCI 607:

Sustainable Materials for Civil Engineering


Sustainability aspects of common civil engineering materials such as steel, concrete, masonry, wood and asphalt. Effects of composition, manufacturing method and performance of civil engineering materials on their sustainability. Methods for the performance assessment and enhancement of civil engineering materials. Emerging technologies in civil engineering materials (CO2 utilization, nanotechnology, bio-inspired materials). Recycle and reuse of materials for civil engineering applications.

Lecture 01 Tuesday, Thursday 08:00-09:15


Position Requirements:




The successful candidate will be expected to have earned a master's degree in engineering and must have a demonstrated background in the subject matter related to the course. The successful candidate must also have very good previous teaching performance or show the potential for very good to excellent teaching ability, and a strong commitment to engineering education.


The Department of Civil Engineering programs are accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB). To maintain our programs' accreditation, faculty must be licensed to practice engineering in Alberta. The successful candidate will be expected to hold professional engineering licensure with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or the equivalent association in another Canadian province.
