The Department of Biology at the University of Prince Edward Island has an opening for a Sessional Instructor during the forthcoming second summer session (July 4 - August 18), subject to final budgetary approval. Individuals qualified to teach the following course are encouraged to apply by May 31, 2023.
Please note: all courses offered below will be taught in person, unless otherwise specified as an online course.
ESC-8020 - Communication Strategies
This course promotes the development of communication skills in the context of environmental issues and exposes students to direct interaction with representatives from industry, government, community, and the social sciences. The course will also provide broad theoretical and practical knowledge needed to resolve disputes as well as skills training in techniques of mediation, facilitation, and negotiation. The course involves weekly assigned readings, an essay on a selected topic that includes an extensive literature review, and a seminar on the researched topic. Restriction: Student must be admitted to a graduate program in the Faculty of Science. HOURS OF CREDIT: 3
Qualifications:
Applicants must hold an M.Sc. or Ph.D. in a field of science/biology related to the respective course content. Documented experience teaching these courses would be a definite asset.
Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster in the Academic Unit, and to those with experience in teaching university level courses.
Salary: As per Sessional Instructor Stipends outlined in the Collective Agreement of the UPEI Faculty Association, Bargaining Unit #1
