The Department of Child, Youth, and Family Studies is rooted in relational practice and guided by values of equity, social justice, and reconciliation. We prepare students to work alongside children, youth, families, and communities with care, respect, and accountability. Our programs blend theory, counselling, and applied practice through evening coursework and integrated practica, making them accessible to working professionals. We centre Indigenous perspectives, lived experience, and inclusive approaches and graduate CYC practitioners who are thoughtful, justice-oriented, and ready to make a difference in schools, community services, healthcare, and beyond. We invite applications from CYC practitioners and scholars with teaching and practice experience in the following areas:

Foundations of child and youth care Indigenous, cultural, and community practice Policy, systems, and social change Counselling and relational practice Practicum, clinical, and applied practice Research and evaluation in CYC Child life and community health practice

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's and master's degree in Child and Youth Care (CYC) or a closely related field from an accredited university Minimum of three years of professional practice with children, youth, and families

Preferred

Teaching experience at the post-secondary level Certification/licensure as a Child Life Specialist (CCLS) Doctoral degree
