Sessional Instructional Assistant

FSC340H5 F Research Design

RATE OF PAY: Effective September 1, 2023 the minimum hourly rate shall be:$52.26

COURSE: FSC340H5 F Research Design

COURSE DESCRIPTION:This course introduces students to common methods of research design and the nature of data collection. Students will learn how to pose a meaningful research questions, to select appropriate data types, to define variables, examine bias, confounding factors, and select appropriate statistics that address their purpose.

COURSE ENRLLMENT:: 40

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1

SIZE OFAPPOINTMENT: 70 hours (total number of assigned hours for all positions is dependent on course enrolment).

APPOINTMENT DATES: September 1, 2023-December 31, 2023

LECTURES: Thursdays 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

PRACTICALS: Thursdays 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference is for applicants to have substantial science course background at the graduate level and background in Forensic Science; knowledge and familiarity of areas within the various Forensic Sciences fields of forensic science in Canadian criminal law and its current position within the legal system. Candidates with previous research, forensic science background, teaching, scientific research and project management, marking and field experience are preferred. Preference is given to qualified candidates who have obtained their B.Sc. in Forensic Science at UTM and who work in research labs within the related forensic sub disciplines at UTM.

DUTIES

Teaching assistant to invigilate tests and final examinations, Hold office hours with students; Consult with supervisor; Mark assignments and examinations, Attend class discussions/presentations.
