As a Technician in Public Sector Services, you will play a crucial role in supporting various aspects of Public Sector Services activities within the organization. This role involves providing technical assistance for new/existing platforms, architecture changes, and routine maintenance for clients in the public sector. This position requires the ability to work in a 24/7 environment, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Candidates must be available to work flexible hours and be on-call to address any urgent situations that may arise, including handling system administration and conducting routine maintenance tasks. ThinkOn is a remote-first organization. At this time, we are welcoming candidates from North Bay, Ontario, Canada for this position.
You Will:Assist in solutions-based design for both the company and public sector clients under the guidance of senior team members.
Support research, design, planning, and coordination of infrastructure upgrades, enhancements, and improvements.
Participate in investigations of public sector client infrastructure setups, assess capabilities, and contribute to recommendations for addressing various issues.
Contribute to the research of new products to enhance and standardize Public Sector Services solution offerings.
Actively engage in maintaining business hours system administration and routine maintenance work, including occasional off-business hour system maintenance.
Contribute to operational and business-critical projects with guidance from senior team members.
Participate in internal and public sector-focused meetings, providing technical assistance and support.
Perform other related tasks as required.
You Have:Entry to intermediate level of experience, with a willingness to learn and operate in a dynamic environment.
Educational background in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Basic understanding of IT infrastructure components, including Windows server, network, virtualization, and backup.
Familiarity with Active Directory Infrastructure, DNS, DHCP, and other Microsoft infrastructure services.
Exposure to Windows Server, Linux Server, VMware, with the ability to learn and troubleshoot basic problems
Interest in LAN and WAN networking, switching, routing, and firewalls.
Willingness to develop skills in enterprise-level infrastructure support, including disaster recovery technologies.
Ability to assist in needs assessments and contribute to technical recommendations.
Basic documentation skills with an emphasis on diligence.
Interest in learning about IaaS, PaaS, and other cloud-based services.
Awareness of IT security principles.
