Primary Duties
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Metering, the Serviceperson will conduct and ensure safe installation, removal of water and electric metering equipment. The incumbent will investigate and resolve water and electric issues. The incumbent will perform maintenance on large water meters, perform water shut offs and water meter testing. The incumbent may be asked to assist in the Gas Operations department, the Metering department & the Water & Wastewater department with appropriate training and guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Install and remove water meters.
2. Troubleshoot and resolve communication errors pertaining to water meters.
3. Inspect and maintain test equipment.
4. Inspect, service and document findings on large consumption water meters.
5. Disconnect and reconnect water service consistent with service orders provided.
6. Provide daily updates and maintain accurate records on equipment locations and material utilized. 7. Update system to document inspections completed on large consumption water meters.
8. Perform inventory related tasks.
9. Test disputed water meters and provide Supervisor with required reporting.
10. Breakdown, document and dispose of retired service equipment consistent with environmental policies.
11. Comply with all health and safety requirements, maintain a safe work environment, report hazards and promote a culture of safety in the workplace.
Education, Certification and Other Qualifications Required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Intermediate proficiency with MS 365
Intermediate ability to navigate CIS and water meter business applications
Intermediate knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements as it relates to individual, organizational and operational requirements
Ability to work independently
o Ability to work with hand tools and test instruments o Basic problem solving and troubleshooting skills Qualifications:
2+ years' experience in a trade or utility environment
Operator in Training (OIT) Certificate an asset
Class G drivers' license
DZ License considered an asset
Special Working Conditions/Conditions of Employment
A Criminal Record Check, to the satisfaction of Utilities Kingston, will be required at the successful candidate's expense.
Maintain at minimum a valid "G" driver's license throughout employment.
Rotational on-call and the ability to work overtime as required.
