The

Service Worker

will be responsible for a variety of housekeeping, dietary, and laundry duties in various sites of long term and acute care facilities. Duties to be carried out with a safety, teamwork and person and family-centered focus.

Duties may include:

Housekeeping

- maintain assigned areas in a sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition by performing various cleaning and sanitizing duties. These duties will include cleaning patient rooms and common areas, washing walls, windows, scrubbing and waxing floors, dusting, cleaning bathrooms and vacuuming carpets.

Dietary

- serving and assisting with the preparation of meals for patients, residents and staff while maintaining high standards of etiquette and sanitation. Duties will include preparing dining room, serving meals, providing snacks, cleaning dishes, sanitizing kitchen areas, and delivering meal trays.

Laundry

- performing routine duties associated with the processing of laundry and other related duties in the Laundry Department. These duties will include using industrial washers and dryers, sorting and distributing clean clothing and linens, picking up and sorting soiled linens and clothing.

Minimum Qualifications:

Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent preferred. Capable of sustained physical activity. Demonstrated ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision and be able to understand and follow oral and/or written instructions. Have a good previous work and attendance record.

Salary Range:

$32.11 per hour (Casual Rate of Pay)

Bi-Weekly Hours:

Days, Evenings, and Weekends/ 8-, 10- and 12-hour shifts. Casual employees are called on short notice to relieve staff that are on leave and unavailable to work. The number of shifts may vary depending on the worksite. The work for this position will be on-call basis only.
