The FMC OR is the Adult Quaternary Level 1 Trauma Centre serving Southern Alberta and surrounding areas. Our OR includes 32 operating rooms and surgeries are performed 365 days per year. Our multidisciplinary team includes Surgeons, Anesthesia, Perioperative RNs, ORTs, RN First Assists and support staff. We proudly provide surgical interventions for over 22,000 patients yearly with the highest standard of care. FMC OR partners with the U of C to provide a teaching environment for medical and nursing students. We are proud to be the Calgary Zone Centre of Excellence for Trauma, Cardiac Open Heart, Neurological, Thoracic, Spine and Organ Transplant surgeries. We are a world leader in the development of the MRI Operative Suite and Interventional Hybrid Trauma and Cardiac Operating rooms. Other surgical specialties include: Ortho/Arthroplasty, Gen Surgery, Pacemakers, Vascular Access, ENT, Plastics, and Gynecology. FMC cares for oncology patients spanning all services. Description:
As a Service Worker II, you will be responsible for readying supplies, and cleaning/disinfecting instruments and specialty equipment for immediate use/reuse by healthcare staff. You will distribute and replenish patient care supplies, perform quality control tests on equipment and record maintenance data. You may also transport patients (clients/residents), equipment, lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required. In addition, you will ensure that patient care areas and other assigned areas are accurately stocked and that specialty equipment required by the healthcare staff is available.
