Your Opportunity:

The Service Worker/Attendant is an integral member of the Mazankowski Cardiac OR team that requires the ability to prioritize tasks to support a busy and dynamic environment that includes both pediatric and adult cardiac surgery patients.

Description:

As a Service Worker II, you will be responsible for readying supplies, and cleaning/disinfecting instruments and specialty equipment for immediate use/reuse by healthcare staff. You will distribute and replenish patient care supplies, perform quality control tests on equipment and record maintenance data. You may also transport patients (clients/residents), equipment, lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required. In addition, you will ensure that patient care areas and other assigned areas are accurately stocked and that specialty equipment required by the healthcare staff is available.

Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 or equivalent. Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Experience with patient portering and knowledge of Safe Patient Handling is required. The ability to function independently as well as in a team setting is necessary. Demonstration of strong communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills are required. The successful incumbent will have excellent organizational and problem-solving skills and will be highly motivated and self-directed. Current BLS required. Preferred Qualifications:

Previous OR experience in dealing with sterile products and setting up sterile fields is preferred. Five years of experience in hospital setting is preferred.
