Your Opportunity:Preadmission Clinic/Adult Day Surgery is a fast-paced dynamic department that services 60-100 patients daily. The Service Worker I is responsible for contributing to safe patient care and efficiency to units within the program and elsewhere as directed. The Service Worker I is responsible for properly maintaining and handling hospital equipment, supply ordering and monitoring, and handling/portering specimens in addition to transporting patients throughout the Hospital. The Service Worker is also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of equipment as well as restocking supplies and linen. The Service Worker plays a key role in supporting clinic functions and patient care. Staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital serves a unique inner-city population, and we want to do it well. The Surgery program maintains the expectation that all employees do so with pride, compassion, and respect.Description:As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:Grade 12 or equivalent. Additional Required Qualifications:Excellent communication skills - fluency in speaking/reading/writing English. Ability to use computer. Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time. Reliable and cooperative, with demonstrated effective customer service skills. Experience in hospital setting. Current CPR required. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment is required: Considerable standing/walking; lifting, repetitive movement, positioning, pushing and/or transferring patients; considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching (continuously for 5.5 - 7 hours per shift). Walking (continuously for 5.5 - 7 hours per shifts) and lifting to fifty pounds. Pushing beds/stretchers. Able to work staggered shifts and work independently is required. Preferred Qualifications:Experience with supply management, as required. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) required.
