Your Opportunity:The Stollery Philips C. Etches Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), located at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, is a high acuity and high activity 69 bed unit that accepts babies from all over Northern Alberta, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut and parts of Northern BC and Saskatchewan. The Service Worker reports to the NICU Unit Manager and is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing specialized equipment, ordering and stocking supplies, cleaning patient bed spaces as requested, transporting specimens to the lab on request, restocking supplies in RST rooms and on 5West. They assist with the maintenance of a clean and safe environment. They are responsible for general housekeeping duties, linen and waste handling and other related duties.Description:As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:Grade 12 or equivalent. Additional Required Qualifications:Service Worker experience required. Must have the ability to work within a team or as an individual. Must be able to prioritize and organize workload. Must be flexible and able to work under pressure with frequent interruptions. Must be able to hear, read, write, speak and comprehend instructions in English. Need to maintain confidentiality of patients and staff. Must be able to take initiative and be self-motivated. The applicant is expected to become familiar with and abide by the established safety rules, regulations and procedures.
