Position Summary:

The Service Technician completes equipment installation and rigging, equipment commissioning, repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting at customer sites for Poseidon's marine systems. Between site visits, the Technician will support production builds, shop rebuilds/repairs and testing at our head office in Campbell River. The Service Technician uses their experience, knowledge, and skills to perform effectively in accordance with work orders and plans. To be successful in this role, the individual must be self-motivated with excellent problem solving, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills. They will also be required to have a high level of comfort with local and international travel and working in marine environments.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Experience in receiving, delivering, and commissioning equipment at customer sites.
• Knowledge of air flow troubleshooting on compressor installations
• Proficiency in providing technical support for mechanical issues related to installation, maintenance, troubleshooting/diagnostics, and repair.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to construct and install both small- and large-scale aquaculture systems and equipment.
• Ability to work alone in remote locations
• Capability to perform testing and equipment inspections onsite and at customer sites.
• Skilled in assisting with receiving, delivery, and installation of equipment.
• Strong communication skills to interface with customers and end users regarding service calls, warranty issues, and product performance inquiries.
• Attention to detail to identify and report non-conformance issues of materials, parts, and equipment.
• Adherence to safe work practices and knowledge of safety rules and regulations.
• Ability to understand and execute work orders and plans accurately.
• Aptitude for providing support concerning maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Willingness to assist with assembly, material handling, clean-up, basic tool and machinery operations, and other activities at the manufacturing shop in Campbell River between service calls.
• Experience operating equipment such as overhead cranes and forklifts.
• Experience with proper rigging practices and safe operation
• Proficiency in inventory management duties as required.
• Availability for local and international travel as needed.
• Flexibility to perform other duties as assigned.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with an aptitude for technology & computers.

Requirements :

• 2+ years' experience in one of the following fields: heavy duty mechanic, millwright, automotive service technician, or equivalent. Red seal qualification is preferred.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical issues: J1939 and modbus
• Must be eligible for international travel
• Valid BC Drivers' License required
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
• Familiarity with work in the marine environment is an asset
• Previous experience in manufacturing setting an asset
• Forklift experience an asset
• First Aid Certification considered an asset
• Must have steel-toed boots for first day of work
• Ability to work overtime as required
• Ability to work in remote sites and travel required
