We are currently looking for a versatile, professional Journeyman Electrician to join our dedicated Service and Special Projects team.
Role Overview
In this role, you will be the boots-on-the-ground expert for our commercial service department. You will work closely with our
Service Manager
, who handles the centralized scheduling and quoting, allowing you to focus on high-quality execution, technical troubleshooting, and project completion. This position requires a mix of service-call agility and the precision needed for "special projects" like tenant improvements and system upgrades.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Service:
Execute service calls as scheduled by the Service/Project Manager, ranging from lighting repairs and power distribution issues to emergency troubleshooting.
Special Projects:
Lead small-to-medium commercial projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within the quoted scope, and to Provincial's high standards of workmanship.
Fire Alarm Systems:
Perform installations, modifications, and troubleshooting of fire alarm systems in compliance with the
CEC
.
Low Voltage & Data:
Install and terminate low-voltage systems, including Cat6 structured cabling, communication lines, and building automation controls.
Collaboration:
Coordinate daily with the Service/Project Manager regarding job progress, site conditions, and any required material adjustments.
Professional Representation:
Act as the face of Provincial Electrical on-site, maintaining excellent relationships with property managers, general contractors, and business owners.
Required Qualifications
Journeyman Electrician Ticket:
Must hold a valid Alberta Journeyman or Red Seal Electrician Certificate.
Commercial Expertise:
Extensive experience in commercial environments (retail, office, light industrial).
Specialized Systems:
Proven experience with
Fire Alarm systems
and
Low Voltage
installations.
Code Knowledge:
Expert-level understanding of the current Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
Safety Mindset:
Commitment to a zero-incident workplace; familiarity with Fall Protection and Aerial Work Platform safety.
Valid Driver's License:
A clean Class 5 abstract is required for operating company service vehicles.
