DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION The location for this remote, home based, position is within the Calgary / Calgary Rural and surrounding area with the possibility of supporting Central Alberta region. Coordination is necessary for a lot of things. Juggling. Fashion sense. Trucking. We could go on. But what we\xe2\x80\x99re most interested in is finding a phenomenal Service Coordinator. Because when service is coordinated, clients are happy. As a Service Coordinator with our Youth Assessment Centre, you will be joining a dedicated team tasked with the intake and assessment of at-risk youth who require support to finish their high school diploma throughout the Calgary/ Calgary Rural and Central Alberta regions. You must have a stellar understanding of the funding and community services available for youth, as well as the various ways to achieve a high school diploma in Alberta. You\xe2\x80\x99ll provide support to clients in receiving funding, meeting individual needs including but not limited to connection with other provincial or government services, community connections and referrals as well as setting and reaching personal development goals. This position is a remote and independent role with travel expectations across the region of service. An independent and reliable mode of transportation is a requirement of this role, a vehicle is not provided by Prospect. You will need to be flexible in your work hours as well as have a space available for a home office, we\xe2\x80\x99ll provide the computer, printer, and cell phone required. Travel throughout the Southern Alberta region will be required. Meets, engages and identifies with clients on educational, personal development and community resource needs and acts as the central point of contact for the client from intake to completion of service:

  • Educates on and support clients with services they can access and according to provincially established guidelines for individuals seeking government grant funding
  • Orientates and refers clients to services provided by the Youth Assessment Centre, other relevant Prospect services, provincial and/or government services as well as community based organizations in their areas
  • Conducts assessments based on contractual obligations and needs of clients including but not limited to service needs determination and employability assessments
  • Monitors and manages client school attendance and performance based on expectations of training providers and policy

Increasing the profile of the Assessment Centre services in the community
  • Network, represent and market our services to local schools and community partners
  • Keep well informed about community support available to clients
  • Refers clients to access other or additional services in the community (when applicable i.e. Community & Government resources, Mental Health & Addiction supports)
What does it take to do this job?
  • Post-secondary education in a youth services, human/social services, counselling, social work, career counselling or other related field and 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a similar role, preferably directly related to assessment and/or youth services (equivalent combination of education and professional experience will be considered)
  • Exceptional active listening oral and written communication skills and critical thinking skills, including the ability to engage, coach and collaborate with a diverse client base, resolve conflict, internal team members, training providers and community organizations/stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to act as an intermediary between the client and any internal and/or external stakeholders
  • Experience, exposure networking and establishing relationships with post-secondary and other education institutions, government resources, mental health providers, addiction support providers and other community partners within the service area
  • Knowledge of Foundational Learning Assistance Program as well as knowledge of the Alberta High School System.
