Job Title: Restaurant Server

Job Summary:
Masala Wok is looking for a friendly, energetic, and detail-oriented Server to join our team! As a Server, you'll be the face of our restaurant, ensuring that guests receive exceptional service while also handling essential restaurant operations. The ideal candidate must have Smart Serve and Food Handling certifications and be comfortable performing both front-of-house and light cleaning duties.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Order Management:
Greet and welcome customers with a friendly and professional attitude.
Take food and beverage orders accurately and relay them to the kitchen and bar staff.
Serve food and drinks promptly while ensuring order accuracy.
Handle customer inquiries, complaints, or special requests professionally and escalate issues when necessary.
Set up and arrange tables with cutlery, napkins, and condiments before service and after customer use.
Process payments (cash, credit, debit) and accurately handle transactions using the POS system.
Beverage, Dessert, and Setup Duties:
Prepare and serve non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks (Smart Serve required).
Make and serve coffees, teas, and other specialty beverages.
Assemble and serve desserts and small food items that do not require kitchen preparation.
Ensure drink and dessert stations are well-stocked and organized.
Phone & Takeout Orders:
Answer restaurant phone calls professionally and courteously, handling customer inquiries, reservations, and complaints.
Take accurate takeout and delivery orders, ensuring proper packaging and coordination with the kitchen.
Cleaning & Maintenance:
Mop and sweep the dining area, bar, washrooms, and front entrance before and after service.
Regularly check and clean tables, chairs, and floors throughout service.
Ensure washrooms are clean and stocked with supplies.
Keep the bar and service stations organized and tidy.
Teamwork & Additional Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with other servers, bartenders, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service.
Tip out the kitchen staff at the end of each shift as per restaurant policy.
Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned by the manager.
Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling procedures.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Smart Serve Certification (Required)
Food Handling Certification (Required)
Prior experience in serving is Mandatory (2 years minimum)
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Comfortable handling cash and POS transactions.
Physically able to lift trays, clean floors, and stand for long periods.
Availability for flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
