Overview:ServerLocation: CalgaryServers lead the Guest Experience at the table and ensure our Guests have everything they need from appitizers to desserts. Masters of situational service, they tailor their style to meet the needs of our Guests. Servers are responsible for the accuracy of the entire order as well as maintaining a positive and Guest focused attitude through the entire experience. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Greeting the guests, informing them of promotions/specials, and taking their orders
  • Following guidelines and keeping up to date with Boston Pizza standards such as: product knowledge, menu updates, promotions, etc.
  • Entering guests orders onto a bill for the heart of house and bartenders to receive
  • Pouring drinks for guests
  • If there is no bartender it is also the responsibility of the server to prepare alcoholic beverages for the guest
  • If the server is not of legal age to serve alcohol they must ask a server who is of legal age to make the drinks for them
  • Making sure the guests have the proper cutlery, utensils, and condiments before their food arrives to the table
  • Constantly monitoring the pass through for completed delivery orders (only delivering food when it is approved and packaged by the expeditor; assembling delivery food orders for guests if there is no expeditor on shift)
  • Conducting a quality check to ensure the guests\xe2\x80\x99 expectations are met and exceeded
  • Constantly observing tables by being visible and readily available to assist guests with any requests
  • Busing the table as soon as the guests are finished by clearing plates, cutlery, condiments, etc.
  • Clearing off and organizing dirty plates, bowls, cutlery, etc. in the scullery area
  • Providing guests with their bills and finishing the transaction
  • Handling and maintaining designated cashier float expectable shortage .05% or less
  • Stocking and organizing dining room, lounge, and patio with necessary operating supplies
  • Completing daily checklists, weekly cleaning lists, and other operational checklists
  • Cleaning and maintenance of facility and equipment; paying special attention to dining room, lounge, and patio areas
  • Following food safety regulations and completing food safety checklists
  • Working as a team with co-workers to achieve k-times, labor, waste, and food costs
  • Delighting guests with friendly and caring service
  • Handling guests\xe2\x80\x99 special requests and allergies with care
  • Acknowledging and handling guest concerns with help from supervisors/managers
  • Following all Boston Pizza policies and procedures including: Confidentiality, Conditions of Employment, Respectful Workplace, Uniforms, etc.
  • Adhering to Boston Pizza operational standards
  • Having a positive and professional demeanor while working
  • In the absence of a bartender, servers must resume all duties and responsibilities of a bartender
  • In the absence of a host/hostess, servers must resume all duties and responsibilities of a host/hostess
  • In the absence of a scullery technician, servers must help with the cleanliness and maintenance of the dish pit
  • Adhering to and demonstrating core values in all attitudes and behaviors
QualificationsEducation:
  • Education is an asset, but no minimum requirement
  • ProServe certification (Alberta)
Experience:
  • Experience is an asset, but no minimum requirement
  • Complete training in all of the host/hostess positions
  • If a server is not hired internally, the new hire must complete this training within the first year of employment

  • Use of portable or step ladder may be required (no higher than 20 ft.)

  • Working with sharp objects (broken glass, slicers, knives, etc.)
Physical Requirements
  • This position requires the employee to stand for an extended period of time (up to 8 hours)
  • Occasionally have to lift heavy boxes when dealing with product inventory (max 50 lbs.)
  • Engaging in repetitive tasks such as: preparing/assembling orders and products and constant cleaning of restaurant facility
  • Must always be mentally alert to ensure the safety of yourself, co-workers, and guests at all times
  • Maintaining good personal hygiene and appropriate uniform
  • Having the capacity to handle stress
