Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa is looking to hire "Smart Serve" certified Waitstaff for the summer opening of the Terrace (July 23 to mid-September) and transitioning into the indoor fine dining reopening of Signatures Restaurant in the Fall 2025 following the seasonal closure of the patio.
Job Title: Server
Signatures Terrace will be open Friday and Saturday evenings from 5:00 pm to 10:00pm as of July 23rd, 2025, until it's weather dependent closure in mid-September. Following the closure of the Patio, Signatures Restaurant will open. The expected shift hours for the Waitstaff are 3:30pm to 10:30pm, with flexibility based on the activity levels of the restaurant.
Responsibilities:
Setup / Closing:
Front of house Mise-en-place - setting up, cleaning and proper storage of the patio furniture (chairs, tables, umbrellas, speakers, etc.)
Proper setting of the tables with glassware, placemats, cutlery, napkins
General restaurant activities, such as folding napkins, polishing glassware and cutlery to prepare for service
Service:
Greeting and seating of guests, including proper use of reservations platform
Advise customers and answer questions of the guests regarding food or drink options
Knowledge of menu and drink items
Awareness of potential guest allergens
Knowledge of wines and cocktails
Use of TouchBistro POS system to input food and beverage orders
Serves food and drink orders to the tables
Clearing tables for plates and glassware
Verification that all sales are properly input into the POS, following procedures for ordering, voiding or correcting items and other procedures of restaurant service
Billing out tables using POS system
Collaboration within the Front of House team to provide excellent customer service
Maintenance of a high standard of food safety hygiene
Interaction with Customers:
Upselling of food and drink to customers
Knowledge of Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa
Ability to discuss the School and Restaurant with the customers
Ability to describe the dishes being presented to the guests
Responsive to customer requests
Following proper processes for handling complaints / concerns brought up by the customers
Following of Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa presentation expectations and dress code
Performance of any other related duties restaurant operations
Qualifications:
Smart Serve Certification
Strong conversational skills
Experience in the service industry (bartending, serving, etc.)
Excellent customer service skills
Availability to work evenings and weekends
