Title: Server - Part Time Department: Food and Beverage \xe2\x80\x93 Front of House Reports To: Food and Beverage Manager The Metcalfe Hotel delivers in Ottawa an understated luxury to world travelers by showcasing our rich building history and connecting to the current culture, community, and people that make Ottawa a lively 21st century capital city. Newly fully renovated and now part of the Gray Collection, our hotel is now entering a new era! Cocotte Bistro, will be a refined yet casual take on an authentic French bistro with a distinctly National Capital lens featuring Executive Chef Stephen La Salle\xe2\x80\x99s classic yet contemporary approach to French bistro cuisine. Cocotte Bistro will also bet on bubbles by the glass, thoughtfully sourced ingredients, social hour specials and sharing items prepared and served en cocotte. Job Summary: The Server will provide a superior level of hospitality to all guests in English or French, offering drinks, making food recommendations and suggestions while performing full table or banquet service (breakfast, brunch, lunch, snack, dinner, late night). The successful candidate will deliver friendly, passionate and efficient service, complying with all food and beverage regulations. Job Duties

• Full table service in the bistro, lounge, caf\xc3\xa9 and/or meeting rooms, including responsible service of alcohol
• Taking room service orders, ringing them in accurately and/or delivering room service orders as required
• Greeting guests at the front door, seating guests appropriately, answering phones, responding to requests
• Adhering to all trained steps of service to consistently deliver the best guest experience
• Setting up, cleaning, stocking your station, while maintaining sanitation and organization standards
• Interact with guests, assessing their needs and preferences while also making beverage and food recommendations, providing your personal suggestions, being informative of features
• Always taking responsibility for ensuring a positive guest experience
• Maximize sales opportunities by becoming an expert on all wine and food offerings and demonstrating salesmanship by suggestively selling
• Provide genuine hospitality by engaging with guests throughout their entire experience, maintaining a positive personality throughout
• Following established standards and timing in greeting, taking orders, delivering orders, and billing
• Exceptional knowledge of food choices, wine selection, wine service and liquor and beer offerings
• Handling cash and card transactions, ensuring charges and change are accurate
• Practice a very high level of communication and teamwork with peers and management
• Clean and stock agreed designated areas by following checklist procedures and opening or closing routines
• Be continually aware of, and maintain, the highest standards of professionalism by following the established dress code; maintain a professional appearance, demeanour, and attitude at all times
• Protect the health and safety of others by adopting safe work practices and reporting unsafe conditions immediately

Schedule:

• Morning, afternoon and evening shifts
• Monday to Sunday

Job Requirements

• Smart Serve Certification required
• Ability to effectively communicate in English and French
• Strong interpersonal skills with a passion for hospitality, wine, beverages and food
• Possess a strong work ethic with a desire to achieve team goals
• Ability to work in a team environment, prioritize, multi-task and manage your time during high volume and busy times
• Being physically able to move quickly, stand and walk for long periods of time 8+ hours and lift at least 50 pounds
