Job Summary:



The Parkdale Community Information program supports low-income and equity-deserving residents who face barriers to accessing community information and services through the following activities: information workshops on a range of topics including how to access government services and benefits; digital learning sessions; community events to reduce social isolation and promote belonging, and one-to-one information and referral to ensure our services and supports are needs-based and enable individuals to address their needs and priorities.

The Seniors Facilitator plans and implements the activities of the program. Maintaining positive relationships with volunteers, placement students, instructors, local partners and multicultural participants is key to project success. All agency employees are expected to support each other and to collaborate on agency-wide events.

The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about community and government services available to seniors, have excellent communication and presentation skills, and be able to support seniors of all demographics. Proficiency with technology and online tools (Microsoft Office, Teams, Canva) will be considered a strong asset.

Duties



Organize registration of participants

Prepare program content

Create promotional material, and publicize events

Coordinate volunteers and placement students

Maintain program statistics in OCMS database

Required Competencies



Physical demands: sitting at a desk and using a computer for 50% of the workday; lifting; working in an open office

Non-physical work related capacities: occasional deadlines; variety of tasks

Social/Emotional demands: teamwork; relationship/network-building; working closely with the public, co-workers and supervisor

Cognitive/mental demands: attention to detail; multitasking; organizational ability/time management, adaptability, sound judgement

Qualifications



Secondary school diploma

One year of work experience in a community services setting

Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening within the past six months

Fluency in a second language is an asset

Must be authorized to work in Canada.
