The Role
Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior/Lead Mechanical and Piping Engineer to join its Canadian operations. This role will support Bioproduct projects (Pulp and paper), primarily located in Eastern Canada. This role will ensure compliance with company procedures, codes, and safety standards while coordinating multidisciplinary and distributed teams, and support project execution.

Ce poste soutiendra des projets de bioproduits (pates et papiers), principalement situes dans l'Est du Canada. Il/elle veillera au respect des procedures de l'entreprise, des codes et des normes de securite, tout en coordonnant des equipes multidisciplinaires et distribuees, et en soutenant l'execution des projets.

Responsibilities:
Typical responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and leadership in FEED/ detailed engineering, including the preparation on/or review of technical deliverables, specifications, etc.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures and quality systems
• Coordinate and lead work with distributed teams and work-share offices
• Monitor team performance and forecast resource needs
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Ensure compliance with provincial and federal codes, standards, and safety regulations.
• Support procurement, vendor selection, and technical bid evaluations.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies throughout the project lifecycle.
• Stay current with industry standards and tools, and implement improvements
• Promote a safety culture
• In the course of their duties, this person will be required to interact with French & English-speaking stakeholders across Canada

Responsabilites typiques

• Veiller au respect des procedures de l'entreprise et des systemes de qualite.
• Coordonner et diriger le travail avec des equipes reparties et des bureaux en partage de charge.
• Surveiller la performance de l'equipe et prevoir les besoins en ressources.
• Collaborer avec des equipes multidisciplinaires.
• Assurer la conformite aux codes, normes et reglements de securite provinciaux et federaux.
• Soutenir les activites d'approvisionnement, la selection des fournisseurs et l'evaluation technique des offres.
• Coordonner avec les clients, les entrepreneurs et les organismes de reglementation tout au long du cycle de vie du projet.
• Se tenir a jour sur les normes et outils de l'industrie, et mettre en oeuvre des ameliorations.
• Promouvoir une culture de securite.
• Dans le cadre de ses fonctions, cette personne devra interagir avec des parties prenantes francophones et anglophones a travers le Canada.

Expected:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
• Bilingual in French and English
• Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Ordre des ingenieurs du Quebec (OIQ); registration in other Canadian provinces is considered an asset.
• At least 10-15 years of relevant technical experience in analysis, design, specification and procurement of Pulp & Paper and industrial process plant equipment and piping
• Strong knowledge of industry practices and mechanical and piping codes and standards
• Experience in process plant engineering, including:

• Design and drafting software (both 2D & 3D)
• Piping stress analysis
• Static equipment (e.g. tank and vessel) design
• Experience with tender documents and engineering deliverables
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Committed to client satisfaction and team success

• Bonne connaissance des pratiques de l'industrie et des codes et normes en mecanique et tuyauterie.
• Experience en ingenierie d'usines de procedes, incluant :

• Logiciels de conception (2D et 3D)
• Analyse de contraintes de tuyauterie
• Conception d'equipements statiques (reservoirs, cuves)
• Experience avec les documents d'appel d'offres et livrables d'ingenierie.
• Excellentes competences en communication et en leadership.
