YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
Reporting to the Manager, Tailings, Water and Environment, you will be part of the Environmental Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.Develop and implement comprehensive water management and tailings storage strategies to support the operating mine site.
Manage and monitor critical infrastructure to minimize environmental impact and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Ensure all waste management activities adhere to local, national, and international environmental regulations and standards.
Support the Environment and Sustainability Department(s) by collaborating with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
Lead and coordinate interdisciplinary teams comprising engineers, technicians, environmental scientists, and other professionals.
Work alongside the mine site operations staff to provide support and leadership for day-to-day tasks.
Develop project plans, budgets, and schedules, and oversee their execution to ensure timely and successful project completion.
Manage contractor selection, procurement, and performance to achieve project objectives.
Stay current with industry trends, advancements, and emerging technologies in water and tailings management.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members.
Conduct research and analysis to solve complex technical challenges related to water and tailings engineering.
Identify potential risks associated with water and tailings management and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Participate in safety assessments, emergency response planning, and disaster recovery exercises related to water and tailings facilities.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline.
5 to 8 years of related experience in engineering or a related field.
Hold a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation.
Consulting or operational mine site experience is considered an asset.
Able to demonstrate technical competence through design and/or operations experience in at least one of the following work areas: mine site water management, tailings storage, water dams, reclamation and closure planning for tailings facilities.
Knowledge in the principles and practices of Civil, Hydrologic, Geologic, Geotechnical, or any other related disciple of engineering.
Knowledge of appropriate supporting software (Muk 3d, SWMM, AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, etc.).
Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
