Key Responsibilities:
Plan, shoot, and edit video projects from concept to completion.
Capture high-quality audio and visuals in both controlled and field environments.
Collaborate with directors, producers, and creative leads during pre-production to shape storyboards, shot lists, and creative direction.
Ingest, organize, and back up footage following consistent file naming and metadata protocols to maintain efficient workflows.
Edit footage into polished narratives for a range of deliverables (broadcast, digital, and social).
Manage colour correction, sound design, and finishing for cinematic and consistent results.
Incorporate graphics, animations, subtitles, and visual effects as needed.
Adapt videos for multiple platforms, ensuring proper aspect ratios, compression, and resolution standards.
Stay current with video production tools, editing techniques, and emerging visual trends.
Organize and manage video assets, backups, and project files efficiently.
Travel to various locations across BC and occasionally within Canada for shoots.
Technical Skills Required:
Proven experience working on documentary or non-scripted projects -- from field production to story-driven edits.
Strong creative eye with excellent technical knowledge of cameras, lighting, and audio.
Proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Frame.io, and other industry-standard tools.
Advanced colour grading and correction skills for cinematic and broadcast-quality visuals.
Motion design or animation experience.
Expertise in multi-camera editing, audio synchronization, and dialogue editing.
Proven ability to craft engaging content across different formats.
Strong grasp of narrative structure, pacing, and storytelling tailored to different audiences and platforms.
Familiarity with cinematic, journalistic, and commercial styles of editing and shooting.
Understanding of different video formats, codecs, and delivery specs for various platforms.
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight timelines.
A valid BC driver's licence with your own vehicle.
A valid travel document for work within Canada and occasional international travel.
Nice to Have:
Familiarity with filming in First Nations cultural contexts.
Education and Professional Background:
Diploma or degree in Film Production, Media Studies, Digital Communications, or a related field -- or equivalent professional experience.
7+ years of experience in video production and editing within agency, documentary, or broadcast environments.
About the Role:
We're looking for a full-time Senior Videographer to join our team in Victoria. This role combines hands-on production and post-production -- shooting on location and in our studio, then shaping the story through editing. You'll work on everything from marketing campaigns to documentary projects, capturing real stories and voices from across Vancouver Island and Western Canada.
