We\xe2\x80\x99re seeking a seasoned, talented Senior UX Thought Lead to join our HCD team as we develop major large-scale digital experiences.

You will guide a team of UX/UI specialists as they move through research and design tasks and collaborate with a larger cross-functional team \xe2\x80\x93 to deliver highly effective, innovative, well-crafted and evidence-based digital solutions.

You\xe2\x80\x99ll be accountable for synthesizing business requirements, research findings and design principles into elegant digital solutions, and ensuring the delivery of different deliverables.

  • explore different design directions and articulate for the user in each solution
  • present to a wide range of project team members and stakeholders

Key Accountabilities:
  • Responsible for defining, articulating and ensuring consistency with the UX vision
  • Consult with stakeholders to shape a UX strategy that delivers business value and user satisfaction
  • Oversee research activity using a range of methodology; ensure the integrity of the resulting analysis and derive insights
  • Manage the team, providing direction, feedback, coaching and oversight while maintaining the weekly execution of UX/UI/UXR artefacts and providing updates to the broader product teams
  • Foster an inclusive climate of collaboration and innovation
  • Ensure smooth end-to-end coordination and supervision between team members and external teams
  • Hands-on \xe2\x80\x93 directly involved in execution of complex design work, including:
  • Leading ideation, sketching, and prototyping activities
  • Responsible for developing the information architecture, interaction design, task flows and navigation design
  • Create user research plans and synthesize research findings into actionable insights
  • Coaching design teams in how to participate in design critiques sessions to deliver inspiring designs
  • Overseeing the output from team members to ensure a consistently exceptional calibre of work
You\xe2\x80\x99ll also be:
  • Contributing to the evolution and management of the Canadian Design System
  • Determining UX success metrics & KPIs
  • Scoping, estimating and planning the delivery of UX activities
  • Designing and facilitating workshops with senior-level internal clients
You\xe2\x80\x99ll need to have:
  • 10+ years of professional experience working on complex web experiences (B2B, financial and transactional), with medium to large-sized teams, preferably in an enterprise environment or digital agency
  • Highly proficiency in human-centred design principles, user research, usability and accessibility
  • 3+ years team management experience, with testimonials or performance reviews demonstrating your UX leadership aptitude
  • Well-versed in Agile project methodology
  • Preferably: previous experience in creating digital web applications for the financial and/or insurance industry

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location CAN, Ontario, Waterloo, 500 King Street North

Salary range is expected to be between $77,250.00 CAD - $139,050.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
