Position Overview

We're looking for a contract Senior User Experience Researcher at Autodesk who is a relentless customer advocate, possesses a passion for human-centered design, and has a track record of executing highly impactful research with cross-functional teams. Our UX Researchers leverage a wide variety of research methods and work in lockstep with their teams to envision, validate, and ship high-quality experiences our customers will love.
Reporting to the Sr. Manager of UX Research, the researcher will conduct discovery research to understand the problems and opportunities within Procedural USD, and synthesize the findings into actionable insights. This role requires top-notch research skills, along with a strategic mindset and the ability to collaborate within cross-functional teams.
We anticipate this role will begin November 1, with a duration of 3 months and a possible extension to 6 months.

Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with a product team to review existing research, identify research goals, and align on roles and responsibilities

Create a research plan and align with product team outlining the research activities and deliverables within the scope of the project

Conduct research using range of research methodologies such as competitor landscape reviews, in-depth customer interviews, ethnographic observation, group interviews, collaborative journey mapping, co-creation workshops, and more.

Synthesize and tag research data using our research repository (Dovetail)

Work collaboratively with product team to provide experience design recommendations

Prepare and effectively communicate research study results to various levels within the organization

Share research study insights with the broader organization through our research repository

Minimum Qualifications

3-5 years of professional UX research experience

Bachelor's Degree (or work experience equivalent) in Design Research, HCI, Human Factors Engineering, or related field

An understanding of USD (Universal Scene Description)

Knowledge of Animation industry roles and workflows

Experience in a variety of qualitative research methods and frameworks, such as ethnographies, contextual inquiries, diary studies, personas, user journeys, card sorting, usability studies, product and prototype testing, survey design, text & verbal analysis, and observational fieldwork

Experience in collaborating with analytics teams to leverage quantitative data as part of the research data set

Organized and capable of working in a fast-paced environment

Strong verbal, numerical and written communication skills

Ability to present information concisely and effectively to people at all levels of the organization

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill complex ideas to their essence

Software proficiency in tools such as Mural, MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Sharepoint), Dovetail, Usertesting.com, Qualtrics, Jira, Confluence, Product Board

Must be available for a minimum of 3 months, 40 hours per week

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Autodesk Media & Entertainment products, or similar software

Experience with agile software development and working with product teams

Experience in Media & Entertainment industry
