Leader Name: Senior Manager, Underwriting As ATB’s next Real Estate Senior Underwriter, your role includes providing real estate credit expertise in support of ATB’s Real Estate Strategy. As a successful candidate you would work with a team of Real Estate focused Underwriters to support our Real Estate Relationship Managers on some of ATBs higher value Real Estate clientele (including commercial and multi residential investment, construction, land development, residential builders, hotels/hospitality and CMHC). This position will report to the Real Estate & Healthcare Central Underwriting Director.

As a Senior Real Estate Underwriter, you will be considered an expert real estate lender. You possess an in-depth understanding of real estate credit solutions & structuring complex credits. While this is not a customer facing role you may be occasionally required to meet virtually with clients or other external partners. Your day to day work would involve credit risk analysis and preparing formal credit presentations along with meeting with your RM partners to determine optimum credit solutions. There will also be opportunity to showcase your Leadership and presentation skills through various project work. Responsibilities

  • Makes sound credit decisions for clients with risk exposures exceeding 5 million in lending commitments
  • Partner in first line of defense for risk management and make independent recommendations in conjunction with Sales team
  • Assesses risk and profitability, maintains accounts, underwrites credit and ensures optimum client servicing
  • Ensures overall loan quality and supporting documentation is within the acceptable ATB measures and identifies all cross-selling opportunities while maintaining adherence to established service level agreements

  • Analyzing rent rolls, construction budgets, Project Monitor reports
  • Spreading - Transferring information from a borrower's financial statements to the bank's financial analysis

Accreditation
  • 3+ years of experience including progressively complex roles with a specific focus on real estate finance
  • Undergraduate degree in business commerce, economics, or a related field
  • Chartered Financial Analyst accreditation or Graduate level education is an asset
  • Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to build relationships with external clients and internal teammates
  • ATB Sales and Credit courses or ATB Accreditation or equivalent
