As a Senior Transportation Engineer, you will play a key role in planning the City's mobility and open space infrastructure network, providing engineering, technical, and policy input into future capital infrastructure decisions that align with the Municipal Development Plan and Calgary Transportation Plan, and the City's Corporate Growth Strategy. Additionally, you will use your expertise in transportation engineering, traffic simulation and analysis to support The City's Regional Transportation Model. You will have an opportunity to apply your skills, experience, and expertise in collaborating and problem solving across Service Lines and Departments, as well as with customers and interested parties to arrive at quality outcomes for Calgarians. Primary duties include:
Foster an environment of continuous learning and development by providing mentorship and training to professional engineering and technical staff into corporate decisions on various applications and assignments. Coordinate, support, and provide professional subject matter expertise on complex mobility and land use plans, including Calgary Plan, Network Studies, Area Structure Plans, Area Redevelopment Plans, and Functional Planning Studies. Work with consultants, developers and other internal City partners to lead and/or support transportation planning studies including network and functional planning studies. Support the ongoing development of the City's Regional Transportation Model (RTM) by providing up to date information about current development plans and network improvements. Support use of the RTM in complex studies by combining policy and technical expertise. Develop and sustain strategic and working relationships with internal and external customers, contributors, and partners to facilitate excellence in service and product delivery. Provide professional engineering advice to Standing Policy Committees of Council, Corporate and Senior Leadership Teams, City Council, interested parties, customers and the public. Attend community and public meetings, open houses, and online forums or sessions.

Qualifications

A degree in Civil Engineering or a related Engineering field. You must have at least 4 years of professional engineering experience in Transportation Engineering or Municipal Engineering planning and design obtained after receiving your P. Eng Designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work, Click here for more details Experience with traffic simulation and analysis software, Transportation Impact Assessments (TIAs), and transportation design is required. Experience working with consultants and leading multimodal network and functional planning studies along with associated project management is considered an asset. Experience leading and organizing public engagement through the different phases of a mobility project is considered an asset. Industry experience, working and negotiating with developers, interested parties, and interest groups, as well as presenting to legislative and political bodies is considered an asset. Success in this position requires: strong analytical and organizational effectiveness skills; ability to balance technical requirements with non-technical competing priorities; and demonstrate effective communication and presentation skills.

Workstyle:

This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Compensation: Level P4E $135,800 - 169,700 per annum
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
