Main Function:
We are looking for an experienced individual to develop new designs of dry type LV transformers up to 2MVA, improve performance of products, standardize components, and reduce material cost of products.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Establish and lead the company's CTO process from the ground up
Develop and maintain configuration datasets (options, rules, dependencies)
Define and enforce standards for configuration management
Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Engineering to define standardized options
Partner with Product Marketing and Engineering to align customer requirements with feasible options
Provide Sales with configuration tools to distinguish CTO vs. ETO work
Own reduction of validation loops by preventing misquoting
Rationalize and simplify product options
Prepare the CTO framework for transition to CPQ systems
Essential Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering degree, ideally specializing in distribution and power transformers. P.Eng or eligible preferred.
Minimum 5 years experience with design of transformers or comparable electrical products
Familiar with Certification requirements (UL, CSA, Nema, ISO CE etc Standard)
Comfortable working within plant and office environments
In-depth theoretical and practical knowledge and experience in transformer designand manufacturing, particularly in air cooled- (natural and forced air), LV Dry Type transformer design, manufacturing, and testing. Other related power and distribution transformer skills are an asset.
Recent experience working in product development and/or R&D with power products (power electronics, power distribution systems, switchgear etc.) in a factory environment.
Rectifier duty and harmonics design experience is a plus.
Phase-shift design experience is a plus.
Proactively seek, develop, and implement initiatives to cost-effectively improve the transformer design, performance, and production
Experience in designing electrical transformers with a solid understanding of magnetic design principles
Understanding "design for manufacturing" principles
Familiar with transformer testing
Strong computer skills including OPS (or other) transformer design software, MS Office products including Visio, AutoCad /Draftsight, Adobe
Analytical, with good problem solving skills
Ability to create and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to transformer design and manufacturing, specifically to LV Dry Type: UL, CSA . IEEE
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently or as part of a team to meet project deadlines and deliverables.
Working Conditions:
Ability to travel occasionally to the US
