:Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto\'s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.At Metrolinx, equity, diversity and inclusion are essential to living our values of serving with passion, thinking forward and playing as a team.Our Maintenance Delivery Team is looking for an innovative and dynamic Senior Training Design and Development Specialist to contribute to the development of the overall learning by creating competency profiles and gathering insight through the Learning Needs Assessment process. The Specialist will leverage sound Instructional Design methodologies and apply Adult Learning theories to develop learning strategies to support complex work and business processes. They are responsible for facilitating continuous improvement through the design and development of effective and efficient performance enablement programs to meet the strategic goals of Maintenance Delivery.What will I be doing?

  • Work closely with subject matter experts to understand technical processes, industry-specific knowledge, or compliance requirements, and translate them into clear learning objectives and outcomes for training programs.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders, to identify training needs and develop solutions.
  • Oversee multiple training projects simultaneously, from needs assessment to evaluation, ensuring they are completed on time.
  • Work with instructional design software, e-learning authoring tools, multimedia editing tools, and learning management systems to create engaging and interactive training content.
  • Analyze training effectiveness through metrics and evaluation methods, and to use data-driven insights to continuously improve training programs.
  • Effectively convey complex information and concepts in training materials, presentations, and interactions with stakeholders.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
  • Completion of an undergraduate degree (Organizational Behaviour, Adult Education, Human Resources, General Humanities, Interactive Arts & Science)- or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in instructional design, training development, and adult learning principles or a similar role.
  • Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP), Canadian Human Resources Professional (CHRP), or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) an asset.
  • Expertise in applying adult instructional/learning theories and principles, training methodologies and instructional design methodologies.
  • Experience designing and delivering signals and communications with an understanding of railway principles and rules is considered an asset.
  • Expert in developing learning strategies and plans for a large organization with multiple stakeholders.
  • Expert in designing, developing and delivering training programs in highly technical and specialized fields.
  • Expert in written communication skills to design and write creative, high-impact content for learning programs.
  • Expert in verbal communication skills to collaborate with a variety of staff across Metrolinx and to deliver dynamic and engaging training programs to Metrolinx stakeholders.
  • Background in signals and communications training is considered an asset.
  • Experience in the rail environment is an asset.
  • CROR qualified is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex information and concepts in training materials, presentations, and interactions with stakeholders.
Working Conditions
  • Training delivery might take place outside of the regular working hours and on weekends (to support the operations needs).
  • Travels to offsite locations may be required.
