Senior Tooling Specialist
to join our growing team and help drive our tooling and manufacturing processes to the next level.
Position Summary:
The
Senior Tooling Specialist
will play a critical role in leading the engineering team and developing processes for machining parts, and preparing projects for the shop floor. Designing of fixtures and tight tolerance tooling will be required. Managing suppliers of outsourced parts and overseeing quality inspections/ reverse engineering projects. This role requires extensive experience in machining and/or tool and die making, with a hands-on, solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving. You will report directly to upper management.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage customer received data and prepare projects for release to the shop floor
Develop machining processes based on customer requirements
Coordinate outsourced processes.
Release production packages to manufacturing
Design fixtures and tooling as needed.
Oversee reverse engineering and inspection processes. Must be proficient in GD&T
Assist in processing scanned data
Assist in the planning and execution of continuous improvement projects related to tooling and production efficiency.
Mentor and support junior tooling specialists.
Maintain accurate documentation.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum
10 years of experience
in machining, tool and die making, or a related field.
Extensive knowledge of tool and die design, CNC machining, grinding, and related manufacturing processes.
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam, AutoCAD).
Deep understanding of materials, tolerances, and GD&T principles.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Preferred Qualifications:
Journeyman Tool & Die Maker Certification or equivalent.
Experience in a project management and CMM inspection
Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
Experience in reverse engineering scanning (laser or white light)
