We are seeking a Senior Technician / Technical Support Lead to join our growing technical team--a team-oriented professional, with 10+ years of experience in the Western Canadian oilfield, capable of providing leadership across a range of operational and technical functions. This position will play a key role in supporting our technical programs, mentoring field and laboratory staff, and ensuring the effective implementation of treatment solutions in the field. We are currently only considering people who live in the Red Deer to Edmonton area to support our main office and laboratory in Wetaskiwin.
The successful candidate will provide guidance on chemical programs, technical troubleshooting, client support, R&D initiatives, and supplier engagement. This is a hands-on, collaborative role offering the opportunity to make a tangible impact in a dynamic and growing organization.
Job Specifications:
40 hours per week, full time position
Attend Client and Suppliers meetings
Travel to worksites such as wells, batteries
Trouble shoot production processes
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to field and laboratory personnel.
Oversee the design, implementation, and monitoring of chemical treatment programs.
Support the development and standardization of internal procedures, test methods, and reporting practices.
Collaborate with Operations and Sales to identify and resolve complex production or corrosion issues.
Manage and prioritize high-profile client projects, ensuring timely and effective solutions.
Contribute to product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Lead incident reviews or field investigations when technical failures or upsets occur.
Assist in training programs and the onboarding of new technical staff.
Maintain awareness of new technologies, analytical methods, and industry best practices.
Requirements:
10+ years of experience in the Western Canada Oilfield; Technical Support experience is preferred.
Previous experience in reviewing field specific chemical programs
Good understanding of general oilfield operations
Good knowledge in Laboratory and other technical settings
Knowledge of various sampling and testing requirements and instruments
Must live within the Edmonton - Red Deer corridor
Secondary degree is a must (B.Sc., PhD., Engineering, Chemical diplomas or other related degrees)
Valid Canadian Drivers License holder
Team-player
Good IT skills (including Word, Excel and other programs)
Proven leadership experience with the ability to guide, motivate, and develop technical teams.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities under field and operational constraints.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to translate technical data into actionable recommendations.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a client-focused mindset.
Familiarity with regulatory and safety compliance within oil and gas operations (OH&S, WHMIS, TDG, etc.).
Experience interfacing with cross-functional groups such as operations, sales, and lab services.
Familiarity with common field/lab tools and instrumentation would be an asset.
Focus in a chemical specialty, such as paraffin or flow assurance, is of benefit
