Summary

Messagepoint is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Technical Product Owner / Manager to join our dynamic Product Management team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving the success of our product offerings by overseeing the product and technical aspects of Interactive communications and Production Orchestration agile teams. This position requires a deep understanding of code, APIs, distributed computing, Kubernetes, Docker, and experience as a software developer. The ideal candidate should possess strong presentation skills, the ability to break down product features into work packages for software developers, and a solid understanding of agile methodologies and experience with Jira. Strong documentation skills are essential to ensure effective communication and collaboration within the team.

This role supports the Messagepoint Connected Interactive platform and our Production Manager orchestration platform.

Messagepoint Connected is a recently re-engineered and re-written product offering allowing non-technical business users to personalize an instance of a communication. Enterprise customers use Connected to empower their customer service, front office, call center, and sales teams to deeply personalize communications. Connected could be used by as few as 10 or as many as 50,000 users within an enterprise. In addition to managing the end user experience of Connected, this role will also support the content authoring, implementation, and deployment portion of the Connected software as part of the broader Messagepoint system.

Production Manager is a microservices based processing and orchestration system that can be deployed in Kubernetes or Docker Compose, in our cloud, customer cloud, or on premise.

Role requirements include gathering business and functional requirements with customers and internal stakeholders, creating requirements and technical specifications. Those requirements will be translated into designs, architectures, and implementation requirements through research and collaboration with functional groups within Messagepoint.

This position will report to the EVP of Product Management.

Responsibilities:

  • Gain a deep understanding of Messagepoint\'s product offerings, technical architecture, and underlying technologies.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluate their applicability to our products, and make recommendations for adoption.
  • Collect and analyze feedback from customers, stakeholders, and other teams to shape requirements, features, and products.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as sales, marketing, and customer success teams, to gather feedback, address technical inquiries, and assist with customer-facing activities.
  • Develop and implement product strategies consistent with company vision, including product positioning, go-to-market strategy, identification of growth areas, and creation of strategic product line roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, QA engineers, and operations teams, to define, prioritize, and translate product features, enhancements, and fixes into clear and actionable work packages.
  • Utilize agile methodologies and Jira or similar project management tools to manage product backlogs, sprints, and releases, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software.
  • Provide guidance and support to the development team, ensuring that technical requirements are met, and best practices are followed.
  • Take the lead of scrum teams as the Product Owner / Manager, providing vision and direction throughout the project, and planning and prioritizing product feature backlog and development.
  • Work with QA engineers to create test plans and serve as an in-house expert for the product.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and presentations to internal and external stakeholders, including executives, clients, and prospects.
  • Help create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including technical specifications, user guides, API documentation, and release notes.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered. MA in a relevant field is a plus.
  • Previous experience as a software developer is highly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of code, APIs, distributed computing, Kubernetes, and Docker.
  • Experience working with agile methodologies, particularly Scrum, and using tools such as Jira.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to break down complex product features into actionable work packages for software developers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • A high degree of intellectual curiosity and ability to learn and apply new concepts and technologies in a wide variety of enterprise operations fields
  • Excellent documentation skills, including technical specifications, user guides, and API documentation.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build positive working relationships.
  • A passion for technology, product management, and delivering exceptional software products.
  • Previous working experience as a Product Owner / Manager for 3 year(s)
  • Proactively identifies, evaluates, and solves problems with rigorous logic and a systematic approach; looks beyond the obvious to see root cause issues and creative solutions.
  • Introduces or develops new ideas and processes which improve performance and productivity. Generates insights through thought leadership. Leverages business intelligence, data, insights, and other research to drive accuracy and efficiency.
