Under the supervision of the Vice President of Finance, the incumbent is responsible for establishing the tax function, including the overall strategy for the company, compliance, planning optimization, and the management of tax risks for both Canadian and U.S. operations. HeShe acts as a tax advisor to senior management and works closely with the finance, legal, and operations teams.
What you will do :
Structure, lead, and evolve a robust tax function adapted to a complex environment.
Develop and implement the company's tax strategies.
Identify and execute tax planning opportunities.
Oversee tax compliance in Canada and the United States (filings, audits, disclosure obligations, preparation of tax memos related to transactions and tax planning, etc.).
Manage and coordinate the tax aspects of internal share ownership programs in collaboration with the executive compensation and ownership manager.
Act as a coach and mentor for tax and compliance professionals to support skill development and internal autonomy.
Anticipate needs, analyze, and manage risks related to the implementation and compliance with tax and regulatory requirements across entities, divisions, and projects.
Ensure the implementation of government practices and requirements related to taxable benefits and sales taxes, in collaboration with compensation and accounting teams.
Communicate and present the tax implications of ownership programs to shareholders, senior management, and employee shareholders.
Manage relationships with tax authorities and external advisors.
Assess the tax impacts of investment, financing, and reorganization projects.
Monitor regulatory developments and anticipate tax changes.
Actively participate in special tax compliance mandates.
This role could be for you if you have :
Degree in taxation, or a bachelor's degree in accounting, management, law, or business administration.
Master's degree in taxation, a graduate diploma in taxation (D. Fisc. or D.E.S.S. Fisc.), or the CPA In-depth Tax Program (or an equivalent program).
Hold a professional accounting designation (CPA).
8-10 years of relevant experience, ideally in managing an implementing a corporate tax function.
Possess experience in both Canadian and U.S. taxation, including a minimum of 3 years in a public accounting firm.
Demonstrate strong adaptability in a fast-paced and growing environment.
Exhibit excellent leadership, communication, and strategic analysis skills.
