Our client is looking for a tax professional to join their team. This role reports to the VP Finance.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the preparation and filing of corporate income tax returns, indirect taxes (GST/HST, provincial sales tax), information returns and other regulatory filings for multiple legal entities
Manage income tax instalments, year-end estimates and final payments
Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize tax efficiencies, reduce risks, and enhance profitability across the company's operations
Ensure compliance with transfer pricing regulations and documentation requirements for intercompany transactions
Manage tax accounting processes, including tax provisions under ASPE and tax-related financial statement disclosures
Liaise with tax authorities, manage tax audits, and respond to inquiries from the CRA and other regulatory bodies
Identify opportunities for tax process automation and efficiency improvements
Work cross-functionally with finance, legal, and operations teams to assess tax implications of business transactions
Qualifications:
CPA
Masters in taxation or CPA In-Depth Tax Course is an asset
7+ years of corporate tax experience, preferably in the transportation and logistics industry or a similarly complex, multi-entity environment
Strong knowledge of Canadian corporate tax laws, indirect tax regulations, and tax accounting
Basic knowledge of US Federal and State tax requirements is an asset
Experience managing tax audits and working with tax authorities
Proficiency in tax software and ERP systems is an asset
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills
Strong communication skills (verbal & written)
