Position Overview



The Senior Tax & Advisory Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire tax and advisory department. This leadership role involves strategic oversight of departmental operations, ensuring quality control, and spearheading high-level projects and initiatives. The role requires a strong background in Canadian tax and management, with a focus on delivering exceptional advisory services and maintaining high standards of compliance and accuracy.

Responsibilities:



1. Departmental Oversight:



Lead the tax and advisory department, setting strategic objectives and ensuring the alignment of departmental goals with the firm's vision. Oversee the performance of the Accounting Manager and their team, ensuring high standards of work and adherence to regulatory and firm policies. Collaborate with Senior Leadership to manage performance reviews and professional development within the department. Champion EOS principles within the department, tracking and reporting on department progress.

2. Quality Control:



Conduct spot checks and quality reviews of work completed by the Accounting Manager and their team to ensure accuracy and compliance. Implement and maintain quality control standards across the department to uphold the firm's reputation for excellence.

3. Strategic and Operational Collaboration:



Work closely with the Operations Manager and COO to ensure the department aligns with the firm's strategic goals and service delivery standards. Drive innovation within the department by fostering a culture of continuous improvement and adoption of best practices. Utilize EOS tools and methodologies to enhance departmental effectiveness and efficiency.

4. Client Relationship Management:



Maintain senior-level relationships with key clients, providing strategic guidance and support. Ensure the department delivers exceptional client service, resolving high-level client issues and ensuring client satisfaction.

5. Staff Development and Training:



Mentor and develop Tax & Advisory Leads and their team, providing leadership and guidance to foster professional growth. Identify training needs and opportunities to enhance the skills and capabilities of the department.

6. Strategic Budget Management:



Oversee the budgeting process for the entire Tax & Advisory department, ensuring alignment with the firm's financial objectives. Work closely with Tax & Advisory Leads to review engagement budgets, making adjustments to optimize profitability and client satisfaction. Collaborate with the Operations Manager to develop and refine overall pricing and servicing strategies, ensuring competitive positioning and financial health of the department

Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA designation is required; additional qualifications in tax or financial planning are advantageous. 15+ years of experience in accounting with a significant focus on management and advisory services. 5+ years of proven leadership experience with the ability to manage a team of senior-level professionals. Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working with stakeholders at all levels. Experience with EOS preferred
