The
Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist
is a catalyst for organizational success--leading full-cycle recruitment with innovation, strategy, and a passion for delivering exceptional results. In this role, you won't just fill positions; you'll shape the future of the College by creating a seamless, people-centered recruitment experience that attracts top-tier talent and strengthens our community.
You'll excel at finding exceptional candidates in both active and passive markets and develop long-term sourcing strategies to keep the College ahead of its hiring needs. Your ability to build networks, cultivate relationships with diverse talent communities, and implement innovative sourcing techniques ensures a steady pipeline for current and future roles.
Equally important, you bring a genuine curiosity about each role, the teams you support, and the broader business context. Your business acumen and strategic insight will enable you to partner effectively with hiring leaders, anticipate needs, and ensure the talent you identify aligns with both the skills and strategic objectives of the College.
Reporting to the Manager, People Operations, you will collaborate closely with the People & Culture team, client groups, and candidates throughout the strategic recruitment cycle. You will also play a key role in coaching colleagues, delivering training, and participating in strategic Talent projects, helping advance the College's long-term Talent goals.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Strategic Talent Acquisition
Lead full-cycle recruitment for assigned client groups, developing tailored sourcing and selection strategies that align with workforce plans, role requirements, and broader organizational priorities.
Design and execute long-term sourcing strategies to build strong, diverse talent pipelines for current and future hiring needs, including cultivating networks in active, passive, and underrepresented talent markets.
Partner closely with hiring leaders to understand team dynamics, business needs, and strategic objectives using this insight to develop recruitment strategies and strengthen overall talent outcomes.
Leverage business acumen and market insights to anticipate hiring needs, advise on talent trends, and support workforce planning discussions.
Utilize internal and external networks to stay current on recruitment best practices, emerging tools, and innovative sourcing methods.
Serve as an enthusiastic ambassador of Bow Valley College, promoting employment opportunities, building our brand as an exceptional place to work, and ensuring a positive, people-centered candidate experience.
Training, Development & Talent Projects
Leveraging your expertise develop and deliver training and provide coaching, and guidance to hiring managers and others involved in the recruitment process, strengthening their ability to make informed, defensible, equitable, and inclusive hiring decisions.
Design and deliver training initiatives on full-cycle talent acquisition, recruitment best practices, in hiring, and strategies to elevate the candidate experience.
Participate in and may lead strategic Talent projects that advance the College's Talent goals, contribute to continuous improvement, and support organizational growth.
Share expertise and mentor colleagues who are developing their skills, fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture grounded in continuous learning and professional development.
Qualifications
Education & Certification
Post-secondary diploma, certificate or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional HR or Talent Acquisition certification (CHRP, RPR) is an asset.
Experience
10 years of dedicated experience as a talent acquisition professional, preferably in an internal (in-house) role with senior or strategic responsibilities in a post-secondary, public sector, or other unionized environment.
Proven experience managing full-cycle recruitment, across a variety of roles, including sourcing, assessment, and selection within a unionized and non-unionized environment.
Demonstrated success in developing long-term sourcing strategies, building diverse talent pipelines, and recruiting in both active and passive talent markets. Demonstrable experience recruiting in a social media environment.
Experience partnering with leaders to understand business needs, supporting hiring decisions, and align talent strategies with organizational objectives.
Proven ability to consistently produce high-quality work, meet deadlines and successfully manage projects from start to finish.
A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills & Competencies
Strong business acumen and ability to understand organizational priorities and workforce needs.
Exceptional interpersonal, customer service skills, relationship-building skills as well as stakeholder management skills.
Expertise in sourcing, recruitment strategies, and talent assessment techniques.
Knowledge of employment law, recruitment best practices, and principles in hiring.
Proven ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely, both in writing and verbally, resulting in effective communication, training, and guidance.
Proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), HRIS systems, and recruitment technologies.
Highly organized, proactive, strong attention to detail, and results-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrating awareness of how their work affects the People & Culture team, client outcomes, and the quality of the candidate and employee experience.
This opening is a full time continuous salaried Exempt position.
