Looking for a new and exciting job opportunity? We are looking for a Senior Systems Specialist - Integration to join our Engineering team! As part of the Engineering team, you will be responsible for providing engineering management for systems interfaces (Systems to Facilities, Systems to Systems, Systems to Vehicle and Systems to externals interfaces).

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Systems, the Senior Systems Specialist - Integration is accountable for supporting the design, operational requirements, and/or implementation of system interfaces for the applicable project/program. This includes technical support to relevant teams through all phases of the projects (i.e. during the planning, development of technical specifications, design, construction, testing and commissioning, safety certification, and operation readiness).



Other responsibilities of your role will include:


Ensuring the systems are delivered with the required level of integration to meet TTC's needs for safe operation of revenue vehicle, central control operation and seamless experience for staff and customers (at stations and stops). Ensuring systems interfaces objectives and scope are clearly defined, agreed to, and documented at the beginning of the applicable project/program. Supporting the preparation of systems interfaces related inputs to project/program plans or schedules, for design and implementation activities. Ensuring stakeholder participation at all appropriate stages of the project/program's cycle. Overseeing the interfaces and/or integration control management process of the project/program. This includes the development of Interface Control Documents, Interfaces coordination and Systems Integration Testing program. Supporting and coordinating with other departments for resources, scope review, operational or functional requirement review, design review, commissioning, and final system acceptance. Supporting commissioning and cutover of systems interfaces, and ensuring the resolution of deficiencies. Supporting on-site construction testing and commissioning work to ensure that project/program requirements are met. Participating in technical reviews with project/program team and Operations Group on a regular basis to ensure that objectives, quality standards, and TTC procedures and requirements are adhered to and met. Supporting the preparation of contract documents, determine contract conditions and achievable timing schedules as required to meet project/program constraints and/or commitments. Supporting the justification and budget to management as may be required to obtain project/program approval. Liaising regularly with all relevant parties to ensure proper coordination of project/program activities. Occasionally acting as the TTC's representative to exercise/delegate such authority or discretion as required in the management of the design and delivery of systems interfaces for the applicable project/program.

What Qualifications Do You Bring

Completion of a university degree in mechanical, electrical, or related discipline in engineering, with extensive experience in the design and systems engineering of rail transit systems in urban transit applications, or any combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent. Registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario is mandatory. Exposure to design, system assurances (e.g. quality control, reliability, availability, maintainability, safety), formal requirements capture and traceability, system integration and interface management. Knowledge of government and safety regulations, legislation, procedures and standards applicable to urban rail transit vehicles. Strong knowledge of project management principles, methods and practices with the ability to carry out and/or coordinate large projects and studies. Sound judgement, supported by strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent organizational, research, design and technical writing skills. Highly effective overall communication and interpersonal skills to work in a team environment. Proficient with computers and related software, including MS Office applications and specific knowledge of either SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
