ABOUT THE POSITION
Columbia's Digital and Technology Team is hiring a Senior Systems Engineer to support our Canada Distribution Centre in London, ON. Reporting to the Manager, Digital and Technology, this role is ideal for someone with strong technical and hardware expertise who enjoys working hands-on with numerous IT and infrastructure components.

This is an onsite position.
HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCEHardware Systems Management: Deploy, Support, and maintain Windows enterprise environment, printers (label and paper), wearable computers (Zebra), scales, dimensioning and weighing systems, conveyor systems, RF scanners, and various software suites (O365, WMS, Crystal Reports, Azure).
Infrastructure Design & Testing: Collaborate, design, and validate changes to hardware & software infrastructure, including Warehouse Control Systems, Manhattan WMS, reporting, and workstation optimization.
Vendor & Budget Oversight: Build relationships with hardware vendors, influence product roadmaps, manage annual hardware purchasing, and maintain local asset database tools.
Project Leadership: Lead medium to large-scale hardware installations and upgrades, including planning, purchasing, and execution.
Agile Collaboration: Actively participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to backlog refinement, kanban planning, and delivery estimation.
Peak-season Shift Coverage: During the summer peak shipping season, standard hours change to accommodate multiple shifts (days, afternoons, and weekends) to support the business. There's also an expectation to be available for phone support if issues arise.
YOU AREYou're confident in navigating day to day Distribution Centre operations use cases, able to investigate system records and identify issues quickly and accurately.
You solve complex problems creatively, evaluating multiple options and developing effective solutions independently/collaboratively, and can explain complex technical terms in which non-technical staff can understand and interpret.
You're comfortable working with minimal direction or within multi-channel cross functional teams, analyzing diverse technical issues and knowing when to escalate highly complex challenges.
You bring a strategic mindset to hardware systems and infrastructure, anticipating system behavior and proactively preventing issues.
YOU HAVEEducation: Post-secondary degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering, applicable certifications are a benefit (e.g., ITIL, CompTia A+, Network +), or equivalent experience.
Technical Expertise: 5+ years of experience in hardware systems or IT infrastructure, with deep knowledge of Distribution Centre hardware and software environments.
Problem Solving: Ability to resolve complex issues, identify root causes, and develop creative solutions.
Project Execution: Proven ability to lead installations, navigate unfamiliar environments, and manage cross-functional projects.
Operational Insight: Familiarity with Distribution Center operations and system behavior prediction based on physical environments.
