Overview
Reporting to the Product Manager, IT Crew Operations, the Senior Systems Analyst is a senior-level technical resource supporting multiple end-user groups and project teams from the Crew Operations business unit. This role is primarily engaged in the implementation, support, and sustainment of business application solutions for multiple critical Tier 1 applications that directly impact Airline Operations. Senior Systems Analysts are responsible for ensuring system uptime, incident management, root cause analysis and resolution, as well as project management and business analysis. Success in this role means being a self-driven learner, resourceful problem solver, and trusted partner who can accomplish any task handed to them. In this role, you will be exposed to regulatory and operational challenges of the airline business and hold a high degree of autonomy and ownership in proposing and implementing innovative system improvements.
Key Deliverables Include:
Participate in the creation of project plans, reports, process flow diagrams, and requirements documentation for projects and initiatives.
Work with resources from other IT teams, business units, and application/interface vendors in the delivery of projects.
Deliver effective and timely communications to project and initiative stakeholders (internal and external).
Provide support for Tier 1 Systems, including but not limited to Crew Management (scheduling), Crew Planning (vacations, bidding), Crew Qualification, Crew Communication, and Crew Payroll software.
Support monthly patching cycles and maintain UAT/Test and Staging environments.
Coordinate with IT teams, business units, and external IT groups to diagnose and resolve incidents within agreed resolution times.
Document incident resolutions and maintain technical documentation for supported systems.
Implement system changes in accordance with ITSM policies and procedures.
Maintain an on-call rotation and be highly available (24/7) during on-call periods; work outside standard business hours and occasionally on weekends/holidays for major incidents or project delivery.
Proactively identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and operational efficiency.
Lead or support projects and initiatives such as migrations, upgrades, and new feature rollouts.
Apply project management best practices; formal training (PMP, Agile, etc.) is a strong asset.
Build strong relationships with team members, product owners, and business partners in Crew Planning, Scheduling, and Pay.
Rapidly learn and master new systems, technologies, and business processes.
Experience and Qualifications:
Diploma or university degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
8 - 10 years in a relevant technical role, ideally supporting mission-critical systems.
Proficiency with Windows Server 2016/2019, IIS, Databases, Azure Cloud, and Red Hat Linux.
Proficiency with Cloud Service Models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
Experience with networking concepts; strong networking skills are a major plus.
Experience with automation, scripting, and DevOps practices (CI/CD, monitoring, etc.) is highly valued.
Proficiency with workplace tools such as Office 365, MS Visio, MS Project, and MS Teams.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present clearly to diverse stakeholders.
Highly organized and able to multitask in a dynamic environment.
Experience working in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Solid understanding of ITIL processes and documentation standards.
Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple items.
Experience troubleshooting hardware devices like PCs, printers, and scanners.
Familiarity with ticketing tools (e.g., ServiceNow).
Ability to take a proactive approach to identify problems, issues, and opportunities.
Ability to propose solutions and new initiatives.
Ability to create and maintain positive relationships with operational leadership and frontline agents.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to learn related technology and business processes.
Airline IT knowledge is an asset.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; clear and professional interaction with stakeholders.
Collaborative and team-oriented approach; able to build positive relationships across teams.
Adaptable and open to feedback; thrives in a dynamic, innovative environment.
Ability to present technical information in a way that is easily understood by business partners and team members.
