Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Systems Engineer - Traction Electrification to join our team! In this role, you will be working with a team in providing systems engineering for a rail transit project involving traction power, communication, signaling and train control equipment, and systems integration. This role will be supporting Traction Power work in Burnaby and Edmond Canada.

What You\'ll Be Doing:

  • Deliver rail and transit traction power supply and distribution system designs and construction engineering support for rail and transit projects;
  • Preparation of design reports and submissions;
  • Undertaking site surveys, and quality assurance inspection;
  • Provides input for design criteria, standard specifications, and technical drawings for traction power, power rail, and OCS;
  • Review contractor submittals and work closely with field staff on the installation of traction power systems, components, and software;
  • Participation in the planning, development, design, verification & commissioning of traction electrification systems;
  • Providing technical review and ensuring accuracy of the work produced by the design team and contractors, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
What Required Skills You\'ll Bring:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in electrical and Electronic Engineering or an equivalent technical/scientific discipline degree related to area of specialty.
  • An advanced degree may be preferred at this level.
  • 10+ years of traction electrification systems, including incoming AC utility feeds and medium voltage AC power distribution, DC traction power substations, fourth and third rail systems, overhead contact systems (OCS) and related automated monitoring and control systems, engineering-related professional experience.
  • A proven self-starter able to work individually with limited supervision, and capable of working in small to large focus groups assigned to complex tasks.

  • Advanced knowledge in industrial power supply and distribution systems and AC/DC rail and transit traction electrification systems; considered subject matter expert.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in teams.
  • Proven ability to perform in a lead capacity on a project.
  • Ability to plan, assign, and/or supervise the work of others.
  • Knowledge of application development tools.
  • Ability to identify systems enhancements and new capabilities, concept demonstrators, and capability business cases.
  • Preparing, reviewing, interpreting, analyzing, and modifying systems engineering plans, drawings, specifications, contract documents, and engineering reports for conformance to professional standards and approved budgets.
  • Strong attention to detail.
