(NAM) is Socomec's organization overseeing all operations in North America.



The Senior Buyer/Scheduler role is responsible for supplier sourcing and selection, supplier performance monitoring, identification and execution of cost savings initiatives, and on-time delivery of materials for the manufacturing of certain Powersmiths products in Brampton, Ontario.


The role is also responsible for assessing, implementing, and maintaining the manufacturing schedule for those products based on plant capacity, current inventories, and supplier lead times.


This role reports to the Manager, Supply Chain and is an active team member collaborating with cross-functional teams.



Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities



Source and ensure on-time availability of materials required for the manufacturing of customized, highly technical and complex products and systems in an engineered-to-order environment Achieve quality, cost, inventory and delivery targets Implement purchasing process that drives the most optimal total cost of ownership when considering the entire supply chain (price, lead time, shipping/logistics, tariffs/duties, manufacturing processes, etc.) Manage supplier selection, cost negotiations, service-level, and inventory management Conduct business reviews with suppliers and implement/strengthen supplier performance metrics Perform inventory cycle counts Assess ship dates for new customer orders based on plant capacities, current inventory, and supplier lead times Create, maintain, and complete production work orders in the ERP system Adjust/modify production schedules to accommodate rush orders, material supply delays, etc. to minimize impact to production and the end customer Develop strong working relationships with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, sales, and engineering to understand and anticipate needs and to enhance supply chain business processes Support new product introduction initiatives Provide subject matter expertise on purchasing and scheduling best practices Manage and resolve any complaints related to materials, sourcing, suppliers, etc. Assess supply chain processes and make recommendations for continuous improvements Provide recommendations to enhance the supply chain to handle projected business growth Provide reporting and analysis to management, as requested

Essential Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:



Bachelor's degree or college diploma in business or a related discipline Purchasing and/or Supply Chain degree, certification, and/or accreditation is an asset 7+ years of purchasing experience in a related industry, specifically working to support the manufacturing of custom products Experience in production planning and scheduling Global sourcing and import/export logistics experience Must have strong experience working within a dynamic supply chain Must have experience sourcing niche suppliers Excellent knowledge of sourcing and procurement best practices Experience working within a technical engineering environment Resourceful, diplomatic, customer service oriented Strong analytical, decision-making, negotiation, and problem-solving skills Well-developed organization and prioritization skills; detailed oriented Embraces changes with a positive attitude Strong verbal and written communication skills Experience in creating and documenting processes and procedures; knowledge of ISO standards Consistently demonstrates a high degree of business acumen and good judgment Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Successful experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization and suppliers; able to quickly gain credibility and trust Demonstrates accountability; focused on meeting goals and deliverables on time and at the highest quality level possible Is client-centric; proactively anticipates and actions internal customers' needs Successfully establishes and maintains long-term relationships with colleagues and suppliers Must be highly focused and able to work with minimal supervision Must be proficient in the use of MS Office suite of software products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
