Position Overview

As a Senior Structured Cabling Technician, you will play a key role in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems, including fibre optic cabling. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with a wide variety of cabling systems, a deep understanding of industry standards, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship. You must be able to work independently as well as collaborate with a team to ensure the successful completion of projects on time.

Key Responsibilities:

Install and maintain structured cabling systems, including fibre optic cabling and copper-based cabling systems (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, etc.) Perform splicing, terminations, and testing of fibre optic cables Troubleshoot and resolve issues with structured cabling systems Ensure installations meet project specifications and industry standards Read and interpret blueprints, project plans, and technical documentation Conduct site surveys and assess cabling requirements Maintain a clean and organized work environment Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols Provide mentorship and training to junior technicians Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and other team members

Qualifications & Skills:

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in structured cabling and fibre optic installations Strong knowledge of cabling standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI, etc.) Hands-on experience with fibre optic splicing, testing, and troubleshooting Proficient in the use of cabling tools and testing equipment Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Strong attention to detail and quality control Ability to work independently and as part of a team Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (company vehicle not provided) Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Additional Requirements:

Must have reliable transportation to travel to job sites within the Greater Toronto Area Must be physically able to perform tasks such as lifting and carrying materials, working in tight spaces, and climbing ladders Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required Ability to work long hours when required Excellent Communication & Organization Skills
