Position Overview:



The Senior Structural Engineer is responsible for investigating assigned properties of concerns being either residential, commercial, industrial or institutional sites after a disastrous incident, including but not limited to structural elements.

Key Responsibilities:



1. Process Improvement:



Continuously monitor and assess personal and divisional processes and procedures; identify areas for improvement and suggest solutions to enhance efficiency within the division.

2. Standards:



Ensure compliance with industry standards and company expectations.

3. Client and External Relations:



Act as the primary liaison with clients, contractors, building owners, and building officials on business matters and issues requiring resolution, and to facilitate a smooth execution of the project completion.

4. Project Oversight:



Assess both residential, commercial, industrial or institutional damaged buildings. Research failure modes and code requirements as required. Oversee the preparation of all necessary reporting and permit drawing generation outlining all restoration/renovation work. Prepare the structural design and drafting of restoration to complex damaged buildings, as well as design and drafting of new buildings. Manages and works with multi-disciplinary teams on large and complex assignments. Collaborate with team members and manage timelines to consistently meet strict deadlines. Delegating tasks when necessary. Always wear assigned appropriate PPE, utilizing proper safety processes.

5. Administrative Duties:



Prepare and submit fully detailed well written reports on structural recommendations and approved drawings on location findings within the requested timeframe. Conduct peer reviews on scope of work.

6. Company Representation:



Travel throughout Ontario and possibly other locations on short notice when needed. Embody and promote the values of Element, acting as a brand ambassador for the organization including at marketing events as requested. Any other duties needed to help drive our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Organization's Values.

Qualifications:



Education:University degree in civil/structural engineering and P.Eng. designation.

Experience:6+ years experience in structural design field, Minimum 3 years experience in wood frame construction, 3+ years project management.

Skills & Knowledge: Proficient in Microsoft Office, Prior use of CAD and REVIT software, Understanding of the Ontario Building Code (specifically Part 9 - other applicable legislation/construction standards are an asset), Proven leadership experience, Proven ability to work within a team and as well, work independently with minimal to no supervision, Construction/site experience in wood frame construction (On site/hands on residential/ commercial construction experience an asset), Familiarity with steel, concrete, masonry, light gauge steel design is an asset.

Physical Requirements:Ability to climb ladders and lift up to 50 lbs.

Licensing & Certifications:Must possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and access to a properly insured vehicle.

Communication Skills:Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to both internal and external stakeholders.

Work Location:

Office based in Burlington, Ontario, plus site visits.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $85,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
